Good afternoon! Today’s a big day, the pilgrims are on Arafat, the Pope is in town, and it’s Yom Kippur! Lots of stuff happening, unfortunately for me it’s just another humdrum work day. Oh yea also it’s the first day of Autumn! Sooooo for today’s work Wednesday I wore autumn colors and also pulled these items waaaaay out the back of my closet lol. And now that I’m looking, it totally has a 70s vibe. This nice flowy top is from H&M, the blazer is oooooold from Lane Bryant and the pants are from Long Tall Sally.
I meant to post this last night but wasn’t able to. Time just goes by so fast doesn’t it? Well this is my 2nd work Wednesday blog. Today I made one of my weekend casual looks work appropriate. The pants are jogger pants and I usually wear them on the weekend with some sandals. For work I just added a blazer and heels. Adding a blazer and heels can transform most outfits from being super casual to either work appropriate or for going out for a night on the town.
Here is the look when I wear it on the weekend.
And here it is when I added the blazer and heels for work.
Blazer is from target but a cuter one can be found here.
Pants are Eshakti and this was my first time getting pants from them. I love them, perfect for summer because the material is cool and breathes. They don’t have anymore in this design, but here is a similar pair.
So I’m going to try something new and hopefully this will help me get into a regular blogging schedule. You may know already that I do something called Fashion Blogger Fridays where I share different fashion bloggers that I have come across and like. Now I’m adding Work Wednesdays. These posts will be work wear, and I’ll share links and ideas about different options to wear to work. Since the majority of my clothes are work wear I thought this may be kind of fun. Soo without further adieu, below are pictures of today’s outfit. Most of these pieces are old so the stores where I bought them probably do not have them anymore. They are basic pieces though that can be found anywhere. This is just a simple black top and pants that I jazzed up a bit with a stripe blazer and brightly colored bag. Very simple and comfortable, but office appropriate.
Blazer: From Target, however, it is from a year ago, similar blazers can be found here or for a more affordable version here.
The top: A sleeveless black blouse, similar ones can be found almost anywhere, I like this one from H&M.
Pants: Wide leg black pants form NY&Co that are like 8 years old. A good pair of pants are an investment! Similar pants can also be found anywhere, I also like these from H&M.
Lets not forget about the bag! What better way to add a pop of color than with a bag? This fuscia bag is from ShopTarb. I don’t think there are any like this one being sold right now, BUT there is the Illa Lane collection for sale now and they are Fabulous, so check it out!
This is a double blog post. First let’s talk about this new hijab. Instagram is so wonderful. I happend upon another instagrammer, who has just started making a new innovative hijab called, the button closed hijab. This idea was born out of frustration of not being able to find her hijab pins. I was lucky enough to be able to try out this new scarf and review it. Here is what I think:
The color of course was fabulous!! The material was nice as well, similar to the jersey scarfs so it was nice and clingy. This hijab was definately VERY easy to use, and the best part was, I didn’t have to search for my pins! I know some may not like the button on the side, for me though I thought it was different, unique and added some character. I would love to see this hijab expanded and made with different kinds of materials especially for the summer, some thin light weight cotton-ish material would be nice I think. Also I would like some longer ones for those sisters that like to wear maxi hijabs. Lastly, I think it would be cool to have different button styles. Maybe some sparkly or shimmery for dressier scarfs, maybe metallic to give them an edgeier feel. I would definately recommend this to a friend, and can’t wait to wear it again. The outfit I’m wearing in these pictures is perfect for a casual day on the weekend. Denim on denim seems to never go out of style. I know everyone is wearing skinny jeans, but this day I opted for a wide-leg jean. I love a wide leg pant! I added a belt to break it up and not look big and puffy all over, and to cinch in the waist. Added a couple of accessories, and voila! Here are some pictures:
So this is the first post in a series for workwear. Someone asked me about what to wear to work. For me workwear can just be simple pieces jazzed up a bit with accessories, shoes and some nice makeup. You may not want to be too flashy for work. Today I wore black and white. While I absolutely LOVE color, black and white can be very classy as well. Sorry that my pics are somewhat grainy, soon I will be getting a camera, in the meantime, my phone will have to suffice. People always shy away from white pants thinking they will look fat, the key is the RIGHT white pant. Gap makes a great white pant. It isn’t see through, so you don’t have to worry about wardrobe malfunctions and having your underwear peeking through. Also the cut and material is great. Best of all, they come in tall!
