What season is it?

Helloooo guys!

Happy Sunday, so this will probably be the last blog post of 2015, I do not think I’ll have time to sqeeze another one in this coming week. Can you believe 2015 is almost over?! I can’t! Anyhow, hopefully in 2016 I can devote more time to blogging and I would like to relaunch my website and make it much better than it is now.

Anyhow, Let’s get started shall we? So the weather here has been CRAZY! It’s been so warm like 60s-70s. So for this blog post I wore my Denim Chambray top from Eshakti. Perfect top for this unseasonably warm weather. It is lightweight and fits perfectly because I got it custom made to my measurements. If you haven’t heard about Eshakti, read my other blog post about them, they are an amazing company!. Since today was a casual day at the park just enjoying the weather, I wore denim on denim and my favorite tan boots. These boots are so old, but for a similar pair, try DSW or Justfab.

Umbrellas aren’t just for rain…

Heeeeeeey guys!

Hope you are having a wonderful week so far! Today’s post is about this wonderful Umbrella tunic from one of my favs, StyledbyZubaidah.  Right now this tunic only comes in white, and I’m hoping that soon it will come in other colors because I’m totally in love with it. It is a hi-low top with a cowl-neck and pleats around the neckline. I like the pleating because it gives the tunic some personality and it’s not just a plain white top. The material is nice and flowey (yes I sometimes make up my own words) and I think will feel cool and breezy during the summer. I love the way the top moves! (I tried to catch a motion picture for you so you can see how it looks).  The material is similar to my Mimumaxi smock dress which is a rayon twill. I can’t tell if it is the exact same material, but it is similar. Both this tunic and the smock dress fall nicely over my body and have a flowey fit.

I do have long arms and the sleeves are a bit short (not to my wrist), which for me isn’t really a problem, but for those who want full coverage to the wrist, if you have super long arms like me, you may need to wear a shirt under it.  For those who really like over-sized, modest clothing, this tunic is versatile. I think it would look nice with a skirt or pants. Today, I wore mine with a gray turtle neck since it is almost winter and getting chilly. Added some semi-skinny jeans and boots and voila!  I also tried a different scarf style, I’m still undecided about that hahaha. Oh, one other thing, I’m always worried that over-sized clothing will make me look preggo -since I’m full-figured and some of my weight is in my midsection. I have to say that this umbrella tunic exceeded my expectations. I hope StyledbyZubaidah adds more colors, especially for the Spring/Summer!

Weekend Casual…

Hi guys!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend, the weather was gorgeous! This is going to be a short post… so one challenge I have is figuring out what to wear on the weekends. 80% of my wardrobe is work wear and so on the weekends I’m always trying to figure out what to wear. Recently I started just wearing shirtdresses with cardigans, or work shirts with cardigans and jeans. Here is what I wore this past weekend.  Most of these items are old so I don’t have links for them, but the stores I got them from area always selling similar stuff. The top is a sleeveless shirt dress from Old Navy last summer, Cardigan is from Target, Boots from Famous foot wear and the jeans from Long Tall Sally from like 8 years ago lol.

Winter Wool

Winter is cold, and previously I never liked to wear skirts much. This winter however, I’ve been branching out. Found this wool pleated skirt from http://www.adaraonline.com/collections/skirts. And what better to wear it but with a cable knit sweater from Old Navy. It is from last season, I tried to find it online and couldn’t. The necklace is from sanacollection.tictail.com and the cuff is from avizeh.wix.com/avizeh.  Ombre Hijab from Styled by Zubaidah . Sorry about the unclear pictures, it is so cloudy here, horrible lighting!

What the heck is a skirt legging anyway??

Hi guys!

What I found since starting this blog, is that it isn’t just Muslim ladies that want to dress modestly, but women from other faiths as well. Mimumaxi is a company run by two Jewish women who have similar views about fashion and modesty that many in the modest fashion industry have. That just because one wants to hold true to their values, it doesn’t mean that they can’t also express their individuality and be stylish as well.
Ok so back to the skirt legging… so while scouring IG for something cool and innovative to wear I found Mimumaxi and something they referred to as a skirt legging… I went to their website to check it out. They describe it as “the Skirt Leggings are entirely a skirt, but have the “feel” and versatility of a good pair of leggings“… hmmmm ok so I had to try them out and promptly ordered a pair. Below are two different ways that I styled them. The first is a winter look with an oversized sweater and boots. The second could be worn in the spring or fall or really anytime of the year, but with spring approaching, I will probably wear it then and maybe with sandles instead of boots. Let me just say that the skirt legging is exactly how it is described on the website. It is soft and stretchy and I really like it. I have to wear it with a long top though because it is fitted on the hips butt area and since I’m a bit “curvy”, I’m more comfortable with it covered, otherwise it looks just like leggings look when worn with a short top yikes! not for me lol…. anyhow here are my pics… the skirt legging can be found at http://www.mimumaxi.com/#!what-are-skirt-leggings/cooe.
