If you haven’t heard of ESHAKTI, you must read this!

So I’ve been waiting to do this blog post for awhile and I’m very excited about it. Eshakti is one of my absolute favorite places to get dresses. I mean I could basically be their poster child as much as I’ve been ordering from them and screaming from the rooftops how much I love them. I’ve been ordering from Eshakti for like 8 or 9 years now. In fact I found them randomly while searching for a website for tall maxi dresses. Because I’m 5’10” it is challenging to find maxi dresses that come to the floor (how I like them). So basically I have been ordering from them before everyone knew about them lol.  Anyway, why do I love this website so much???

  1. They sell sizes 0-36W!!! I mean seriously is that a range or what? Almost anyone can find their size, and if you can’t, that brings me to the second reason why I love Eshakti.
  2. Custom sizing!!! You can put in your measurements and they will make the garment to your measurements. You would think that would be super expensive, but NO, custom sizing is only an additional $7.50 to the price of the garment. And if it is your first time ordering custom is free.
  3. Custom styling options. Ok if the affordable custom sizing wasn’t a sell, this will be. Most garments have a custom style option, for example you can change the sleeves, or neckline or even length. I looooooove this because I can add sleeves to a sleeveless dress.
  4. Lastly, if use promotion code “faiscloset”  you can get an additional 10% off!!!! (Valid from 6/23/15-7/23/15)

If I didn’t say it already, you MUST check out Eshakti! Whether you are tall, or short, skinny or curvy, you can definitely find something on this website. Here are some of the dresses that I have ordered and had custom made. I also included the original picture of the dress so you can see the changes I got. I would say the only “con” if you call it a con, is that because every item is custom made you cannot get express or overnight delivery. I have found delivery takes anywhere from 2-4 weeks depending on what it is I ordered. So if you have an event coming up you would need to plan ahead. They do send you a tracking number once your order has shipped and if you have an issue you can return the item. I also found customer service to be great. They quickly respond to emails. Oh and I must not forget to mention the quality of the materials used. I have a couple of dresses I ordered like 5 years ago and they are still in perfect condition as if I just ordered them.

This is a Cowl neck stripe knit maxi. I had sleeves added to this dress. The left is how the dress was on sale on the website. The right is how I wore it with sleeves. This dress is a cotton knit and feels very cool for the summer. This one isn’t lined, but it isn’t see through either. Unfortunately this dress is out of stock at the moment, but they frequently bring styles back.

This is the Cowl neck hacci knit maxi dress. Again this dress was originally sleeveless and I opted for sleeves. Material is a stretchy knit so I didn’t custom size the arms because I figured with stretchy material it would fit and it did! This dress is very thin and cool for summer, however you need a slip because it is almost a bit see through depending on the lighting. Here is a link to this dress. http://www.eshakti.com/shop/Dresses/Cowl-neck-hacci-knit-maxi-dress-CL0035715

Another view of this dress. I love how the dress color looks different in different lighting. Here I wore it with a cardigan for work. Oh and did I mention it has POCKETS?! Pockets are a custom styling option on most dresses too, so if you don’t like them you can opt to remove them, but who doesn’t love pockets?

Sorry the pic on the left is blurry. Here is the Cowl neck abstract print jersey dress. Another sleeveless dress I got sleeves added to. This dress is lined so no need for layering and it has a bit of a stretch. I usually get length “full length with 3 in heels” to ensure the dress will be long enough for me. This one I could wear with flats if I wanted. It can be found here- http://www.eshakti.com/shop/Dress/Cowl-neck-abstract-print-jersey-maxi-dress-CL0035857

Close-up of the details of the dress. This dress is also a stretchy knit. This one has lining so it is not see through. Bag is from http://www.shoptarb.com/ . Shoes are Steve Madden.

Playing catch up- ICNA

I’m catching up guys I promise! This post is only 3 weeks late hahaha (insert Emoji here)…

Ok but seriously, my daytime job has been kicking my butt recently, leaving me no time to blog like how I want. Let’s get down to business, no one wants to read my ramblings. This will be a short post about the bazaar at the ICNA convention.  If you don’t know what that is, ICNA stands for Islamic Circle of North America. It has been around since 1968, in response to the growing need for a supportive Muslim community in North America. Since then it has grown and expanded across the US and has worked to establish connections between Islam and the public, collaborating with numerous Muslim organizations and other national interfaith organizations for the betterment of society. This year’s theme for the convention was “The Connection between Purpose, Compassion, and Service”. While I will not go into details about the sessions (mainly because I didn’t attend any), I will show you guys pics of the bazaar and tell you about some of my favorite vendors.

If you have followed my blog then I’m sure you have seen me rave about the designer Zubaidah. Well good thing I had my money with me because she was there selling her new summer dresses. I absolutely love Styled by Zubaidah, not only because the designer is a sweet person, but also because she is one of the if not THE only muslim, modest designers that designs especially for Plus sized, “curvy” women such as myself! Check out her website here.

Another brand I love is Louella by Ibtihajj. Although she doesn’t specialize in “curvy” sizes, she does carry extended sizes and lengths. One of the only Muslim dress brands that sells length 61inches… yes I’m also very tall too lol. Here are some pics of the Louellashop booth. And to shop Louella, click here.

Have you heard of Simply Zeena? The Zeena team opened up a shop in Tyson’s Corner mall, they were the first Muslim modest fashion retail shop in a major retail mall in the Northern Virginia area.  How amazing is that? A store catering to those of us who love modest fashion. Unfortunately they did not renew their lease and the store has since been closed.  Don’t fret though, their online shop is still up and running and can be found here!

See yall soon,

Chic Shop DMV

Hello guys! I feel like I’m always apologizing to you all for taking so long to post! I really need to post more often. This post is kind of a long one so forwarning you all! Remember last post (Leggy Luncheon) where I mentioned I had a busy weekend? Well on Sun 4/26 I went to Chic Shop DMV that was presented by Hakeemah (Cover me Beautiful) and Areej Fashions.  Chic Shop DMV was a fashion, craft, and beauty bazaar, which means it was right up my alley lol. There were so many vendors there, I tried to get pictures of most of them so that I could post them here.

So let’s get started. The bazaar was at Thurgood Marshall Center in Washington DC. When I arrived, there was a chalk drawing outside at the entrance which was a cute way to let people know they were in the correct place. Once you entered and registered, there was a food room that had vendors selling bean pies, cupcakes in jars, smoothies, chocolate and other sweets. There was also a table where people were preparing hot food.

When I entered the actual room where the vendors were, there was so much to see! Tables were set up with people selling all kinds of things from clothing and accessorires, to all natural beauty products like body butter and soaps etc. Below are pictures of some of the tables with links to their websites IF I was able to get that information.  I went around to each table and ended up buying some body butter, soap, scarfs, two bracelets, and a clutch. They also had people doing henna, a hot hula class I think, and a picture stand where you could get a professional picture taken. Everyone was very nice and prices were reasonable. I can’t wait for the next one!

Can you see the blue clutch and the Gray clutch on the left? I couldn’t decide which one to get, ended up getting the gray one. I liked the design on the front. Ok and how fabulous is that animal print boot? To see more check out http://www.iconfashionboutiquedmv.com/.

Sorry this picture is blurry. I ended up buying one of the body butters from Wanderlust. She makes all her own from all natural organic products. The one I got had a light citrusy smell. I haven’t used it yet, but it smells wonderful.
